It runs for from an intersection with State Route 25 in Gorham to State Route 35 northeast of Standish. The route heads northwest, passing through the center of town and crossing over US 202 / SR 4. SR 237 continues northwest and crosses into the northeastern tip of Standish. The highway immediately terminates at SR 35 near the southern tip of Sebago Lake. SR 237 runs parallel to, and northeast of, SR 114 (which it is a former alignment of) over its entire length.
